Curricula

FSEC, along with other energy organizations, have taken the time to designate numerous sets of curriculum materials for K-12 teachers and schools. This web site lists a short description of these curriculum materials, links to web sites, and information on each unit. Care has been taken to insure that the proper state standards that apply have been maintained.

Picture of a student working with a fuel cell.Alternative Fuel Matters, is a compilation of individual activities for grades 6th through 8th that create an awareness of the potential of alternative energy sources. The activities covered in Alternative Fuel Matters are interdisciplinary, and could be used in several curriculum areas. 
Building Performance Matters logoBuilding Performance Matters is designed to help students learn about building sciences, energy-efficiency, and renewable energy through a two-week unit of instruction for grades 9-12. This unit is coupled with comprehensive, web-based educational resources and a database for teachers and students.
Picture of Necar concept hydrogen car.High Energy Hydrogen I is a hydrogen energy science unit developed by FSEC for elementary students in grades 3rd through 5th. This unit focuses on basic information about hydrogen and introduces students to safety and the many uses of hydrogen.

This unit builds on the knowledge from High Energy Hydrogen I but can be used seperate from the other units. New, is the more detailed look at hydrogen equipment, technologies, and applications.

Like High Energy Hydrogen II, this unit builds on High Energy Hydrogen I, but can also be used stand-alone. This high school level unit finishes up with a complete look at cutting-edge technologies such as fuel cells.
